The ministry of Charles Haddon Spurgeon has extended beyond his lifetime in many remarkable ways. In this new collection of Spurgeon’s letters the private man is made public in a way that confirms the reality of his Christian profession and proclamation. Here we see him as always purposeful and earnest, yet warmly human; deeply sensitive and spiritual, yet remaining child-like and humorous. In this fine selection of letters to young and old, to members of his congregation and strangers, to colleagues and fellow pastors, we are given a glimpse of Spurgeon as his friends must have known him: full of life, full of wisdom, full of joy, even when in discomfort, but most of all, full of Christ.
