Sixty Years of Puritan Paperbacks
September 2021 marks the 60th anniversary of the Puritan Paperback series.
Iain Murray, writing in 1961:
‘The first two titles of this new series are scheduled to appear in September. This is an endeavour to popularize in mid-twentieth century format some of the timeless literary treasure given to the Church in the seventeenth century. We hope that Heaven on Earth (a treatise on Christian Assurance) by Thomas Brooks and A Lifting Up for the Downcast by William Bridge will be widely used to introduce people to the riches of the writings of the Puritans. Both books are of a deeply experimental character pre-eminently designed for the heart.’
Here we are 60 years on! To remember, in a special way, how the Lord has blessed this series we have done a number of things this month:
- We created an anniversary booklet with 5 Puritan Paperback postcards, which will ship with every order placed at staging.banneroftruth.org for the rest of the year.
- We released two new Puritan Paperbacks, bringing the total series count to 60 titles.
- We released four newly re-typeset editions of Puritan Paperback classics.
- We collected a number of video and article testimonials, curated below for your convenience.
