Islay Burns was the brother of China missionary William Chalmers Burns (1815-68) and the son of William H. Burns (1779-1859), and is best known as a writer and the successor to Robert Murray M’Cheyne in Dundee. He is the author of The Pastor of Kilsyth, a biography about his father.
