Review: Old Paths

J C Ryle was an evangelical Church of England minister of the 19th century who eventually became the first Bishop of Liverpool.

During his life he became best known for writing tracts on a range of subjects. This book, first published in 1873, is a collection of nineteen such booklets. The common theme is the essential truths of the Christian faith – the old paths. The subjects covered include: Our Sins, Forgiveness, The Cross of Christ, Conversion, Faith and The Holy Spirit

This book is a model of good communication and preaching. The language is simple. The sentences are short. The theology is biblical. The truth is applied in a simple and pointed way.

There are only a few books that, in my opinion, every Christian should read and this is one of them. Buy it, read it and you will not be disappointed.
