How then did Charles Spurgeon win and keep the heart of Susie Thompson?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>He sought Christ first and foremost.<\/li>\n<li>He cared about her soul before he pursued her romantically.<\/li>\n<li>He wooed her with poetry.<\/li>\n<li>He proposed to her in a little garden.<\/li>\n<li>He reserved the words &#8216;I love you&#8217; until he was ready to ask her, &#8216;Will you marry me?&#8217;<\/li>\n<li>He established a weekly date that was disconnected from his work.<\/li>\n<li>He invited her to join him while he worked.<\/li>\n<li>He penned creative love letters to her.<\/li>\n<li>He held her hand.<\/li>\n<li>He laughed with her.<\/li>\n<li>He travelled with her as long as her health allowed.<\/li>\n<li>He listened to her when she described her favourite places.<\/li>\n<li>He put his arm around her and prayed for her.<\/li>\n<li>He encouraged her to act on her dreams.<\/li>\n<li>He sought out the best medical care for her when she was sick.<\/li>\n<li>He invited her to join him in his pursuits.<\/li>\n<li>He deepened her connection to the books that would help her.<\/li>\n<li>He promoted her interests.<\/li>\n<li>He wrote to her every day when he was away.<\/li>\n<li>He penned love poems for her.<\/li>\n<li>He shared his sorrows and his joys with her.<\/li>\n<li>He asked her to pray for him.<\/li>\n<li>He led her in family worship and prayed for her.<\/li>\n<li>He celebrated her accomplishments.<\/li>\n<li>He enjoyed her company.<\/li>\n<li>He was excited to introduce her to places that he loved.<\/li>\n<li>He kept pointing her to Christ until he died.<\/li>\n<li>He secured her provision for after he died.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Charles loved Susannah every minute of every day for as long as he had breath.
