The Living and Enduring Word
The theme of this year’s Banner of Truth Ministers’ conference is The Living and Enduring Word of God. We thought that would be a most admirable and appropriate title for this year, the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation.
The Reformation was essentially the recovery of the authority and sufficiency of Holy Scripture in the life, worship, and witness of the church. That recovery, which happened so many years ago, is one that the church no less needs to make today.
We need to be reminded that the word of God is never to be peripheral in the life of the church; rather, it is always to be central and fundamental to her worship, witness, ministry, and mission. Our hope for this year’s conference is that not only will we be reminded of those truths to which we all assent, but that we will also experience the power, authority, grace, as well as the truth of God’s living and enduring word.
It will be a delight to welcome you to the conference. Perhaps this will be your first time at a Banner of Truth Conference. I’m sure you will find it (as I have always found it) to be a very congenial, welcoming, and warm-hearted environment. Our hope is that, as our speakers introduce us again to the theme of The Living and Enduring Word of God, our hearts will be warmed, our minds will be stretched, and our lives and ministries will be recalibrated by that living and enduring word; so that we will return to our congregations revitalized and recommitted to Christ and his gospel – men who proclaim unashamedly, in this age of ecclesiological confusion, the living and enduring word of our God.
It will be great to see you at the conference.
